Q: Aquatic Center FAQs
A: 1. Is the pool open year round?
The Portland Aquatic Center is open year round. The competition pool is heated during the winter months. Call (361) 777- 4670 for the days/times.

2. How do I become a lifeguard?
The Portland Aquatic Center is operated under the guidelines established by Jeff Ellis and Associates. Lifeguard classes are offered in the spring, please call (361) 777-4670 for class information.

3. How much does it cost to go to the pool?
Daily fees are $4 per person, 2 and under are free and seniors are $3. Please note this is an entrance fee, all those entering must pay regardless if they are swimming.

4. Do you provide swim lessons?
Yes, Jeff Ellis & Associates swim lessons are provided in the spring, summer and fall. A variety of times are available. Please call (361) 777-4670 for more information.

5. Do you offer private swim lessons?
Private swim lessons are available. Please call (361) 777-4670 to request a private lesson. The sessions last 30 to 45 minutes and range in fees starting at $20 a session and up.

6. What swim lesson class should I put my child in?
Children may be ahead or behind of the age guidelines, therefore please place your child by skills and abilities according to our course description.

7. Can I get a refund for swim lessons if my child did not attend the entire session?
Program fees are non-refundable. If you have an extenuating circumstance, please call (361) 777- 4670 for assistance.

8. What happens at the pool in the event of inclement weather?
The lifeguards will clear the pool and if weather passes the pool will re-open. No refunds are issued for inclement weather.

9. Can I rent the pool for a private party?
The Portland Aquatic Center is available for private rentals. Please check availability online at www.portlandtx.gov
Q: Community Center FAQs
A: 1. What are the Community Center hours of operation?
Monday-Friday 6:00 am - 9:00 pm
Saturday 8:00 am - 8:00 pm
Sunday Closed

2. What are the membership fees for the Community Center?
Membership fees start as low as $55 for three month fitness memberships. Please check membership rates online at www.portlandtx.gov or call the Parks and Recreation Department at (361) 777- 4670 for more information.

3. What does a membership to the Community Center include?
Memberships allow patrons use of all cardio and weight equipment as well as the racquetball court and locker rooms during regular operating hours. The walking track and gym are available for use when fitness classes are not taking place. Aquatic Center memberships and fitness classes are not included in the Community Center membership. There is a combo membership that would include gym and pool.

4. Is the Community Center available for rent?
The Community Center is available for meeting and party rentals. Please visit the Community Center, view online at www.portlandtx.gov or call the Parks and Recreation Department at (361) 777-4684 for more information.

5. What times are the Silver Sneakers classes?
We have a variety of Silver Sneakers fitness classes check schedule online at www.portlandtx.gov or call (361)777-4670.

6. How much is a Silver Sneaker membership?
Memberships are free for those covered under the sponsored health care programs. Visit Community Center or call the Parks and Recreation Department at (361) 777-4670 for more information.

7. What does a Silver Sneakers membership include?
Silver Sneakers members have full Community Center membership privileges as well as Silver Sneakers classes, Aquatic Center privileges and aqua aerobics classes.

8. Do you have group exercise classes?
A variety of group exercise classes are available at the Portland Community Center. See schedule online at www.portlandtx.gov or call (361) 777-4670 for class time and details.
Q: Kidz Klub FAQs
A: 1. How do we pay for Kidz Klub?
At time of registration the registration fee and first month of program are due. Future monthly payment will be set up on autopay, using your choice of credit card or e-check.

2. What age must my child be in order to enroll in Kidz Klub?
The age requirement is 5 to 12 years of age.

3. Must I pay even if my child does not attend?
Yes, you must pay per month. If you do not wish to use the program for a certain amount of time, you must withdraw your child. You will still be charged monthly tuition until you fill out the required withdrawal form and submit to the Kidz Klub staff.

4. When is monthly tuition due?
Tuition automatically withdrawn on the 1st of each month.

5. What is the cost for Kidz Klub?
There is a $60 registration fee and the monthly tuition is $100.00. There are some months with holidays that are reduced price.

6. Is Kidz Klub provided on early release days?
Yes

7. Is there a program provided on school holidays?
Kidz Dayz is available on school holidays. This is a separate program, registration is required. Kidz Dayz is not open on City Holidays.
Q: Park FAQs
A: 1. What are the pier hours?
Indian Point Pier is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and free to the public. There is no concession or bait on site.

Q: Senior Center FAQs
A: 1. What are your hours of operation?
Monday - Friday 9:00am - 4:00pm
Closed on holidays.

2. Is there a fee to join the Senior Center?
No, there is no fee.

3. Is lunch provided at the Senior Center?
Lunch is provided for qualified individuals. Please call (361) 643-9431 to apply.

Q: Skate Park FAQs
A: 1. What are the skate park hours of operation?
Monday-Sunday 8:00 am - 9:00 pm


2. What are the skate park membership fees?
The Portland Skate Park is FREE for all to use.

3. Are bikes and scooters allowed in the Skate Park?
Yes, bikes are allowed, but not pegs please.
Q: Kidz Kamp FAQs
A: 1. What is the cost for Kidz Kamp?
There is a $60 registration fee for all. The full program is $90 a week. There is not a weekly option, all registration is for the full 8-week program.

2. What age must my child be in order to enroll in Kidz Klub?
The age requirement is 5 to 12 years of age. Five year old participants must be entering kindergarten in the fall.

3. Is lunch provided?
Yes, the GPISD Summer Food Program will provide lunch and the City will provide a morning and afternoon snack are provided.

4. Must I pay even if my child does not attend?
Yes, all children will be enrolled for the entire program. Payment will be set up on autopay and be processed weekly on Friday. Kidz Kamp is closed July 4th.

5. When is the weekly payment due?
Payment is due by the Friday before the week the child is attending. All weekly payments are set up on autopay, declined payments will be due asap to not interrupt attendance. Any declined payments not made before that next Monday will restrict your children from attending.
