Daily Camp Information: Camp Hatten is a children's day camp that offers children in grades K-8 the opportunity for weekly theme-related playtime, structured games, day trips, weekly trips to the New London Aquatic and Fitness Center, the New London Public Library and so much more. Register week by week for whichever themes interest you and your child the most. The camp is Monday through Friday at the historic Hatten Park. Full day campers will need to bring their own lunches to camp every day; the headquarters is equipped with a microwave and refrigerator for lunches, please pack utensils if needed. Half-Day campers are more than welcome to join us at lunchtime which will be at noon daily. The headquarters of Camp Hatten will be located at the Hatten Park Kunkel Shelter, the building located in the main entrance of Hatten Park, by the horseshoe pits. Most camp activities will be located in Hatten Park, the New London Aquatic and Fitness Center and the Washington Center Gym. There may also be some field trips planned outside of the City of New London. Parents will be notified of all trips by a newsletter sent home with campers every Friday and in a weekly eblast for the upcoming week. Parents and friends are more than welcome to attend field trips with campers; all we need is registration and payment by the deadline of that field trip.

Flexibility: If there is another NLPR Program or an in-city, New London School District program you would like your child to participate in we have staff specifically designated to accompany your child safely to and from other programs we offer. Please indicate the need for this service at the time of registration and in writing when you drop your child off for the first time that week.

Programming Includes:
Activities: The day is full of a wide variety of physical activities and games in a non-competitive environment. We also offer plenty of passive activities such as arts and crafts during the day. All activities are centered on the weekly theme.
Field Trips: Occasionally campers will venture on half- or full-day trips to recreational or educational attractions in town and around the Fox Valley. Most of these field trips will not include an extra fee, unless it is required that we rent a bus. The Parks and Recreation Department also offers several field trips to the public. Campers and their families and friends are more than welcome to register for these and the bus for all of these events will pick up at Camp Hatten; these field trips do require an additional registration fee. Campers are not obligated to go on these field trips that have an additional cost; there is a full day of camp still scheduled for that day which your child can attend. Camp Hatten staff is scheduled to attend these trips as well.
Swimming: During each week there will be times when the campers will go swimming at the New London Aquatic and Fitness Center.
Newsletter: Each week your child will be sent home with a newsletter on Friday for the next week, you can pick this up the Monday morning of your first week of camp. All parents with an email registered in the system will receive this email on Thursday afternoon of the week before. This newsletter has a lot of valuable information, notices about field trips, any issues we have noticed at camp, things we may want your child to bring to camp for the next week...so please read it carefully.

Your Camp Counselors and Staff:
The camp will be administered by professional staff members of the New London Parks and Recreation Department and supervised by highly motivated and trained Parks and Recreation Staff. We ensure high quality supervision of all campers with a low ratio of campers to counselors. The entire Parks and Recreation Staff are trained in CPR and First Aid. Certified Lifeguards are on staff during all pool activities as well.
