Description

This will be an introductory course in wilderness medicine appropriate for independent back country travelers as well as entry level outdoor leaders or guides working in settings with access to a higher level of care or in less than remote settings.

The Wilderness First Aid course is a multi-day, small group learning experience that empowers students to act positively in any situation. It covers the basic systems and physiology of the human body, then dives into first aid situations that outdoor leaders can face in the field. The course takes place in an outdoor environment syncopating classroom-style instruction settings (to disseminate knowledge) with in-the-field role playing scenarios so that students apply and retain the content presented. This class meets the certification standards of The American Safety and Health Institute Wilderness First Aid Program.

IMPORTANT: CPR/ AED certification is a per-requisite to participating in the Wilderness First Aid Course. We can accept most CPR/AED certifications that people may already have as long as they are current and from a hands on class from a recognized CPR course provider meeting AHA 2015 Guidelines. There is a FVCS class offered by Brian McGorry on April 25th from 5-9p. Register and details here.
