Description:
At the Y, our Youth Volleyball helps children ages 8 to 12 years old develop fundamental volleyball skills while teaching teamwork, strategy, and sportsmanship. Participants will have the opportunity to learn underhand serving, setting, hitting, and digging.
Meeting Dates
The volleyball players will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6:00 pm. This is a skill development program, and therefore will not follow a typical league format.
***ALL TIMES AND DAYS SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON REGISTRATION NUMBERS***
FOR YOUR SAFETY
We ask parents to check their child’s temperature before bringing their child to practices. At a minimum but not limited to; children with fevers, coughing, sore throats, shortness of breath, sudden loss of taste or smell cannot participate in practices until cleared by a medical professional or are healthy for 48 hours after symptoms.
Masks must be worn as designated by Pasco County ordinance while inside the YMCA building.
A verbal wellness check will be conducted when entering the building by staff. Coaches will also conduct a verbal wellness check at the beginning of each practice.
Ensure your child’s gear and equipment is sanitized before and after every practice.
Provide your child with hand sanitizer for practices.
Notify the YMCA Sports Director or head coach immediately if your child becomes ill.
To support appropriate social distancing, we request only one parent or guardian per child attend as spectators in the gym.
Please have your child wear athletic clothes and closed-toed shoes. Every child needs to bring their own water bottle, volleyball, and hand sanitizer. Knee pads are suggested, but not required. Please clearly label all items you send with your child.
Spectators should bring a chair to use when watching the practices. Please do not bring food into the gym, and all liquids should be in a plastic bottle that have a secure cap.
Social distancing markings for spectator seating areas are identified with blue tape.
Volunteer Opportunities
YMCA sports are based on seven guiding principles: everyone plays, safety first, fair play, positive competition, sports for all, sports for fun, and family involvement. Our clinics are supported by parent volunteers who are engaged as coaches, referees, and raving fans.
If you are interested in being a volunteer this season, please contact Jason Moenter at jmoenter@suncoastymca.org. There is also an area for you to indicate your volunteer interest when you are registering your child.
Parent Communication
All notifications will be done using the email address that you have on file. If you are not sure which email address is on file, please contact us to verify or update your contact information.
