Description: Flag Football Clinic style training every Friday for 8-weeks.
At the Y, our recreational flag football league helps 9-12 year olds develop fundamental flag football skills while learning teamwork, strategy, and sportsmanship. Skills taught include passing, catching, throwing, and the rules of the game. The focus of this program is to have fun, make new friends, and play flag football in a non-competitive environment.
***ALL TIMES AND DAYS SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON REGISTRATION NUMBERS AND NUMBER OF COACHES AND THEIR AVAILABILITY***
What Do I Need:
- Athletic attire, closed-toe shoes, and a water bottle are needed each time your child comes to play flag football at the Y.
- Players in this league will need to bring their own football and we recommend that they bring it to practice with their name on it.
- An email address should be on file with the YMCA to ensure timely and efficient communication to our participants. Please feel free to contact us to verify which email address we have on file for your family.
- Family involvement is important in Y sports! You can bring a lawn chair to stay comfortable while cheering on your child during practices and games, but you might also want to come wearing closed-toe shoes, too--just in case you want to join!
Volunteer Opportunities
YMCA sports are based on seven guiding principles: everyone plays, safety first, fair play, positive competition, sports for all, sports for fun, and family involvement. Our leagues are supported by parent volunteers who are engaged as coaches, referees, and raving fans. We appreciate your participation and understanding throughout the season, as well as your engagement and support as a volunteer. If you are interested in being a coach, please contact our Sports Director, Jason Moenter, at jmoenter@suncoastymca.org for more information.
