Take the road less traveled. This course will focus on clay hand building using a variety of techniques and tricks. Tools will range from standard to scavenged. Firing will be in an electric kiln with commercial glazes, as well as alternative techniques involving a BBQ grill using horsehair and aluminum foil. Let your imagination soar and your artistic voice sing. Open to all skill levels.
Biography:Lisa G. Westheimer is an artist living and working in West Orange, New Jersey. She received her BA from New York University an MA in Studio Arts (Ceramics) from Montclair State University. Her unique alternative firing processes, glazing techniques and aesthetic vision are greatly influenced by the work of Beatrice Wood, Peter Callas, Paul Soldner, Antoni Gaudi, Phillip Guston, Francis Bacon, Wassily Kandinsky and Joan Miro. Lisa currently teaches Explorations in Glass Fusing and Slumping at the Montclair Art Museum.
