Description: Dining is a skill, so come and learn how to become a star at the table! We practice setting the table for a three-course meal and learn how to use the appropriate silverware when eating bread and butter, a main course and a dessert. We focus on posture and poise, greeting the COVID-19 way (smiling eyes and voice and a respectful nod with good eye-contact), introductions, voice level, when to leave a party or group with appreciation and farewells and thank you notes. Appropriate cell-phone use is discussed and learned through games. (No food is used during this course) Dress attire for class is young ladies must wear a skirt or dress and young gentlemen in dress shirt, slacks and a tie.
Biography:Sarah Berto was born in South Africa and moved with her husband and 3 children to the United States in December 1998. She came into the country as a preschool director and, K – 2 grade teacher, residing in Glenview up until the present. In order to bring the value of good manners to her classes in a fun and memorable way, she held tea parties with children in her preschool through 2nd grade classes, and at after school dining classes for the older children. She left teaching so that she would be able to spread this to more children other than to just her own classroom students. She now owns Confidence with Etiquette LLC, teaching all ages how to be confident in the graces of social and dining manners at schools, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Park Districts, Winnetka Community House, Maggianos Little Italy, At her home in Glenview, and privately in people’s homes.
