Description

This introductory abstract painting course focuses on exploring ways in which abstract art can be created. Students will work in a semi-abstract style.

Students will look at work by important abstract painters to learn about specific styles, short demos will be done, and the first few weeks a still life will be set up as an optional point of reference. This course uses a variety of exercises and approaches to enable artists who are starting to paint more abstractly. Students will discover ways to use colors, shapes, lines and composition.

Medium: Open to all medium (the teacher will be using oil paint).

Supplies: Please bring paper, pencils, paint or medium of your choice and appropriate substrates for the medium. We will be doing a new piece each week. Some sessions a few quick exercises in one class.
