Teen Studio: Portrait Club 5 Weeks
w/ Dori Spector
Ages: 12+

Wednesdays, 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Learn the art of painting portraits!

Every week we will talk about a famous portrait painting throughout history and try and recreate it using each other as models. Students are encouraged to bring in light props to model with -- a hat, a scarf, anything that is unique to the painting we are discussing. For the first class, we will explore the structure of the head and how it relates to the body, what makes a likeness, simple drawing techniques, and the use of different materials.

We will also incorporate fun techniques into our artwork like contour line drawing, simple printmaking or collage. One week, we will explore a self-portrait using the techniques above to create a really fun work of art.

This is a 5-week, 1.5 hr. class.
