Description

Drawing in Color
W/Barbara Zanelli
A seven (7) session course

In this class we will have fun exploring color in a variety of mediums. Play is the central theme in this series of classes, as well as discovery and combining materials. By adding color to line drawings and/or drawing lines with color, we’ll explore some different ways of using color in line and tone. This will be a topical introduction to some ways of using these mediums, so that you may choose to explore one of them deeper in the future.

Color is fun and therapeutic. In this intro to color in drawing class we’ll start out with the basics of using colored pencils and how to layer, as well as basic color theory. Next, we’ll dip into some very basic watercolor with no objective other than to relax and let the water and color do their thing. We will also practice applying watercolor to a line drawing and applying line to a watercolor abstract painting. We will spend a day learning to hatch in color with ballpoint pens.

Supply List:

Canson Mi-Tientes, sand colored two 19 x 27 sheets.
Drawing Board – ½ thick blackcore foam board. Comes in a 30 x 40” sheet. Cut one 20 x 28 (or 20 x 30) for large drawings and one to 8 x 10 and 9 x 12, and other sizes you like! (Remembering to make the board an inch longer on each side than the paper size you plan to use) When you cut your board, cut it on top of a broken down cardboard box so as not to dull your knife. You could also bring your 30 x 40 board on day one and we could cut them down in class
