Description

Artist Talk: Introductory Slide Lecture

w/Stuart Shils

Thursday, November 2
7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
$35.00*

Mr. Shils presents a 90-minute introductory slide lecture, examining issues of perceptual awareness and the mechanics of image making. The talk is the pre-cursor to Stuart's three (3) day workshop. All workshop participants are expected to plan on attending. While the presentation will be deep into the concerns and mechanics of the visual mind, it is quite accessible to anyone interested in or engaged with wanting to come closer to paying better attention visually. *The cost of the talk is included for master class participants. Non workshop participants are welcome for a fee of $35.

Stuart Shils is a native of Philadelphia and studied at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, where he is now on faculty. He was the recipient of an NEA grant, an Academy Award in Art from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and a Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant. He was a painter for many years who worked out of doors exploring direct response to what is seen ‘out there’ and more recently his studio life is more concerned with what is seen and felt inside, but really, in the arts, is there any difference between inside and outside?
