Description: Bring in a favorite photo of the child you wish to paint, the better the photo the better the outcome. Starting with a brief discussion this workshop will include instruction on how to start your portrait, mixing skin tones, and the specific measurements of a child?s anatomy, focusing on facial measurements which are so different from an adult's. The aim is to move beyond the constraints of a camera to create a charming and personal work that achieves an accurate likeness of your subject.
Biography:Anne is a portrait and figurative artist who returned to the Philadelphia area after living and working in England for over 40 years. She spent seven years training first at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, and continued her education in both Cambridge (Cambridge School of Art and Technology) and then a post grad diploma course in Portraiture at Heatherley's School of Fine Art, London, England. She now works mainly in oil and pastel. Her works hang in numerous homes and institutions both sides of the Atlantic ? among them, Birkbeck College (University of London), Sony Studios in London's West End, The Montgomery School and the new Radnor Memorial Library, Radnor, Pennsylvania. Work publicly exhibited includes paintings at the Pastel Society UK (2001/2/4/5/6/7/12); the Royal Society of Portrait Painters (2003/5/6); the Royal Institute of Oil Painters (2007) in London's Mall Gallery; Leighton House, London (2007); the Pastel Society of America in the National Arts Club, New York (2012); and the Butler Institute of American Art, Ohio (2013).
