Description

Purpose: To train instructor candidates to teach the fundamental American Red Cross learn to swim courses and water safety presentations. Students should be able to perform the following swimming skills taught at Level 3: front crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke.

Prerequisites: Be at least 16 years of age on or before the last day of the instructor course, successfully pass a water skills test.

Requirements for Certification: Attend all class sessions, pass all practice teaching sessions, pass a water skills test and pass a written exam. Text materials required after meeting eligibility requirements. Online certification fee of $35 paid to the American Red Cross after passing eligibility swim and before the first day of class.

Recreation Center Membership or day pass required.

Classes are subject to cancellation 5-7 days before the first class.

Recreation Center Membership or day pass is required for all aquatic class participants ages 3 and older.
