Ages 50+.

- This hike is rated a moderate 7.8 mile hike with 1,300 ft. of elevation gain.
- Meet at the trail head by 9 a.m.
- Look for your guides in orange vests.
- Trail meet-up location: South Falls Lodge Trailhead just inside the main entrance to the Park near the South Falls Lodge. The address is 20024 Silver Falls Hwy SE, Sublimity, OR.
- A $5.00 day-use fee per car (payable on site) or a State Park Pass is required to park there.
- Hike details: This iconic hike is located about an hour and a half drive south of Portland in Silver Falls State Park, Oregon’s largest. On this popular hike, you will travel through an old growth forest of Douglas Firs and Mountain Hemlocks passing ten spectacular waterfalls charged by spring rains and melting snow at their raging peak plunging over basalt cliffs. The trail actually loops behind several of the waterfalls.
- Footwear-hiking shoes or trail runners-waterproof recommended during winter months.
- Illumination-headlamp or flashlight with extra batteries.
- Safety Items-whistle on lanyard, personal first aid kit (medications, emergency shelter/blanket, blister protection, health insurance card, driver's license, cash/credit card)
- Hydration-2 liters (66oz)-This is a minimum amount. Bring more water for warmer weather or longer hikes.
- Nutrition-high energy snacks (protein bars, cheese, nuts, chocolate, etc) and a lunch. Always bring more than you think you will need.
- Equipment-backpack or sling bag (suitable for carrying all your belongings), trekking poles, multitool, sitting pad.
- Clothing-layers to add or take off. Synthetic, quick dry fabrics (moisture wicking), waterproof rain pants and jacket or poncho, hat with rain-guard/sun protection/warmth, gloves, spare socks, hand warmers.
- Sun & Bug Protection-sunscreen, sunglasses, wide brimmed hat, insect spray/bug repellant, SPF lip balm.
- Personal Identification-emergency identification card-keep updated.
- Personal Hygiene-toilet paper, plastic bag, garden trowel, hand sanitizer.

- Make sure your contact information is current in the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services registration system.
- Do not begin hiking without the group. Wait at the trailhead until the hiking guide has given instructions.
