Description

With Guest Teachers Devon Hase and Devin Berry
Given ongoing racial distress, pandemic fatigue, political fear, and the uncertainty that characterizes life now, how do we cultivate a skillful response? Mindfulness and meditation practice help us tap into steadiness and even the quiet joy available in each moment of presence, which can unfold into many varieties of contentment and gladness, right in the midst of the ten thousand sorrows so present these days. The quality of equanimity, or balance of mind, helps us stay grounded in the truth of these joys and sorrows without bypassing or ignoring the many complexities of being human. Join us for a weekend of cultivating these beautiful qualities of the heart.

We want this retreat to be accessible for all. Spaces are being reserved for young adults (age 26 and under) and persons of color. Financial assistance is available. See the Reduced Price code listed below. For financial support beyond the Reduced Price, please contact us by email at: uwhealthmindful@uwhealth.org

Reduced Price = $25, use coupon code DD25

All are welcome, no prior meditation experience is necessary.

Teachers:

Devon Devin B

Devon Hase began intensive meditation training in 2001. After spending close to a decade as a classroom teacher of high school and community college students, she entered a two-year period of retreat. Devon was then invited by Joseph Goldstein and DaRa Williams to be a part of the Insight Meditation Society (IMS) Teacher Training program, an honor she gratefully accepted. Devon coaches meditators on the 10% Happier app, assists retreats at IMS and Spirit Rock Meditation Center and leads mindfulness and meditation retreats with her husband, Craig.

Devin Berry has been meditating for over 20 years. He completed the Dedicated Practitioners Program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, where he is a visiting teacher. Devin is a graduate of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teacher training practicum and is currently in the Insight Meditation Society (IMS) Teacher Training program. He has worked with a wide variety of groups including children, teens, young adults and elders using culturally-informed approaches. Devin lives in Massachusetts and teaches nationally. He can be described as an engaging, humorous storyteller who uses poignant anecdotes to convey powerful truths and a breadth of life experience.
