Awakening the Eye as Spring Unfolds

A Mindful Seeing Program

This five-week course in Mindful Seeing has one primary goal – paying

attention to our lives in the present moment. So often, we walk through life lost

in our thinking minds, missing the experience of the beauty of the world around

us – the wind softly swaying the willow tree branches, the shadows dancing on

our living room wall, the reflections in wet pavement or the increasing chatter of

birds in early spring.

In this course, the tool for waking up to what’s around us is a digital

camera/phone. Each session will begin with a visual meditation and reflections

followed by exercises that will help awaken your perception and appreciation

for this world. There are weekly take-home assignments for practice and at

least one field trip. Any type of digital camera and/or phone is appropriate.

This class is for those with some prior experience with mindfulness practices.

No previous photography experience is necessary.

One more important thing: It's a lot of fun!

All meetings will follow UW Health COVID-19 protocol and policies that are in effect at the time of the class session.
