Kayak Adventure - Rescheduled Masonboro Island Tour
ActivitySpring & Summer 2024 - Session 1|#10122
Description
Masonboro is a pristine coastal island that is only accessible by boat. After paddling to the island, you will also get a chance to experience coastal wildlife in its natural setting while exploring the island's unspoiled beaches.
This trip is an excellent opportunity for kayakers with less experience to get their paddles wet. This trip will be about 2.5-3 miles round trip with an extended break in the middle to explore the island. This trip will be affected by wind and tides as we cross Masonboro Sound as well as boat traffic on the ICW; we will stay together as a group and all paddlers will receive instruction from guides. This trip will be in full sun and restroom facilities may not be available (facilities will not be available on the island).
The program fee includes the use of a kayak, paddle, and personal flotation device (PFD), which must be worn at all times on the water. Tandem kayaks can be provided for those who would like to paddle together and can be requested during registration; both paddlers in the tandem must be registered participants.
Participants who wish to use their own kayak, paddle, and/or PFD may do so and are given an opportunity to make note during registration, but must still wear their PFDs at all times. Email recreation@townofleland.com with questions.
All outdoor programs are subject to change based on weather and minimum program enrollment. If you register for a program that is canceled or postponed, you will be notified by staff.
