Lifeguard Training Course

Lifeguards play an important role in a swimming facility's risk management program. Successful participants will become certified lifeguards with the Starguard Elite Lifeguard Program. The course curriculum includes water safety, rescue techniques, basic first aid, Professional Rescuer CPR, AED certification and emergency oxygen support training. Course completion does not guarantee employment with the park district or area aquatic facilities. Payment of the course fee is not a guarantee of certification.

Prerequisites: 15 years of age or older before course begins, swim 200 continuous yards using front crawl or breaststroke, tread water for 2 minutes using legs only, feet first surface dive to retrieve a 10-lb. brick from a depth of 12 ft.
