Description: Dog lovers from across the region will converge at Broemmelsiek Park in Defiance for the 15th annual Paws in the Park dog festival. The event, which supports local animal shelters, takes place at the park's Off-Leash Dog Area, voted best in the region by the Riverfront Times. The public is invited to bring their 'best friend' for a jam-packed festival of contests, prizes and sponsor giveaways, as well as K-9 obedience skills demonstrations. Special performances by Infinite Pawsibilities, St. Charles County Police K-9 Unit, Canine Search & Rescue Association and Gateway Dockdogs. Dog contests begin at 10:30 a.m. and include Fastest Ball Retrieval From Pond, Best Kisser, Best Costume, Best Dog/Owner Look-Alike, Best Trick, Best Agility and Best Catwalk! New this year is a Dog Blessing at 10 a.m., sponsored and led by Baue Pet Services. Admission is free, but those who bring a pet supply donation receive a special gift while supplies last. Donations benefit the St. Charles County Pet Adoption Center.
