Description

This film appreciation class takes comedy lovers of all skill levels on a journey through the story of film comedy, from the era when Chaplin and Keaton were kings of the silent screen to Judd Apatow and Adam McKay's contemporary mastery of character and the bromance. The class will focus on the role of comedy in cinema as a reflection of ourselves from its origins and specifically how The Second City has influenced this relationship in the second half of the 20th Century. Each week students will watch a film, and scenes from films, and be led in discussion by the instructor. This class is a great start for students who are looking to learn more about filmmaking. You will leave class with a better practical understanding of how comedy works by learning from the masters.
