Come and workout with a Brazilian flair! This dynamic, energetic Latin dance incorporates the authentic and original Samba Reggae born in Bahia, the first capital of Brazil, as well as Afro-Brazilian dance. You will get a great workout as a result of low and high impact movements that will increase your blood flow, strengthening your cardiovascular system and burning lots of calories. Slleyk da Bahia is the former choreographer of Olodum, the first Samba Reggae ensemble in the world. He spent 15 years creating unique choreographies to present during the carnivals of Brazil. All levels welcome!

REFUNDS/TRANSFERS - A $15.00 processing fee applies for each activity session refunded. Refunds will be prorated. Refund/transfer requests must be made in writing to the program supervisor in person or by fax (310-899-0840), mail, or email (firstname.lastname@example.org). Refunds will be issued only if requested within one day after the first class meeting. Material fees are not discountable and are nonrefundable.
REFUNDS FOR DUPLICATE/MULTIPLE ENROLLMENTS resulting from multiple registration submissions (at one or more offices or via online registration) will be subject to a $15.00 processing fee for each activity session refunded.
CANCELLED CLASSES will be made up at the end of the session. Makeups will not be offered for classes missed by the student. Programs are subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment is not met.

Slleyk da Bahia is a professional dancer, teacher and artist from Salvador Bahia, the first capital of Brazil and the heart of AfroBrazilian culture, known as the land of joy and love. Since 2001, Slleyk has been working as the principal choreographer and dance instructor for Olodum, the first established Samba Reggae band who has recorded with Paul Simon, Michael Jackson and Spike Lee. He started his career working for Olodum's Nonprofit School (Escola Olodum) teaching dance and percussion to at-risk youth. Previously, he worked alongside Nem Brito of Dance Brazil teaching dance in the Diaspora Center for the Arts.
Throughout his career, Slleyk has worked with several nonprofit organizations, universities, and private schools. He specializes in Brazilian dances styles such as Samba, Samba Reggae, and AfroBrazilian.
"Só Alegria!"--Slleyk's personal motto--means only happiness or "It's All Good!" Slleyk believes in promoting peace, love & happiness through dance, while building community and self-esteem for his participants. He was featured on the Travel Channel "Dance the World: BRAZIL" with Jaycee Gossett. Slleyk regularly offers workshops and dance classes for big companies such as FORD, and travels around the world teaching and performing. Among the visited countries are Switzerland for the SambaFest in Nyon. He has also been seen in the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Germany, Poland, and Portugal. In 2013, Slleyk began his first tour to the US, participating in several major events like Brazilian Day in Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego, as well as the Bahia Afro Festival in Washington DC.
Upon ending his tour, he returned to Salvador to continue his work with Olodum and prepare for the Carnival 2014. After the Carnival 2014, Slleyk decided to live in the US and have Los Angeles as his home base, although he continues to travel throughout California teaching workshops and participating in major cultural events. Slleyk has taught at Santa Monica Community College in the continuing education department.
In Brazil, Slleyk operates his own Cultural Center offering percussion, dance and language classes, as well as regularly leading cultural exchange trips for large groups. Since his arrival in Los Angeles, Slleyk has been diligently working and developing a new exciting project that will launch 2016.
