Description

Come learn and practice the Martial Art of Shotokan Karate while promoting confidence, manners, and self-esteem! Learn how to execute proper punches, blocks, kicks, strikes, a kata, and self-defense. With karate training students will start to build upon a physical, mental, and emotional foundation to thrive in and out of class. We provide karate classes for kids to master the necessary and fundamental motor, verbal, and communication skills. Our top priority is guiding your child in the right, healthy, and safe way to strengthen their bodies, sharpen their minds, and help them adapt to new social environments.

The Okaigan Karate dojo does require a clean, white, no markings karate uniform (gi). Uniforms may be purchased prior to the 1st day of class or on the first day of class. (please call or email Okaigan directly at 408-257-4116 or crawford@okaigan.com for best times/day to pick up a uniform) Uniforms for youth students typically range between $35.00-$45.00 pending on the size of the student. We do offer belt promotions at the conclusion of the program however belt promotions are optional but available for an additional fee, payable to the instructor. There are no classes available, at the Okaigan Dojo, for youth karate classes above the level of Yellow Belt through the Santa Clara Parks and Recreation Department. This class can usually be repeated 2-3 times. “Junior belts” with prior instructor approval may enroll in this class.
