Description: Get introduced to the basics of guitar! Learn melody, harmony, and rhythm in a fun, relaxed, small group environment. Students will learn music theory, chords, strumming techniques, finger picking, and different styles of music including pop, rock, classical, blues, and traditional songs. Beginning is for students who have not had any previous experience. Intermediate is for students who have completed the Beginning class. Students are required to bring their own guitar to class.

Notes:

No class July 4. A music book is required for this class: Hal Leonard's Guitar Method, Book I (book with CD not necessary). Students will be required to supply their own guitar (acoustic guitars as low as $84 at Guitar Center) and guitar pick. For more information, email Mark Shriver at mr.shriver@yahoo.com. Only registered participants may attend the class. For the health and safety of participants, instructors and staff, all in-person classes offered through the City of Santa Clara Parks & Recreation Department will follow current State and County Public Health Department Orders and guidance. Participants and staff should not attend program if sick.
