Description Please help us realize this exciting new sculptural work in Rye Town Park! Dear Friends of Public Sculpture in Rye and supporters of Rye Town Park: We have a wonderful opportunity to help bring a new public sculptural work into existence for Rye Town Park. The Rye Arts Center Public Art supporters have been working with Natsuki Takauji over the past year to bring a temporary installation (through Fall 2019) of a new work, similar to her Windows (with Swing) that she installed in Manhattan along the Hudson River in 2014-2015. Natsuki has studied our park on several visits and worked on this new design for us. She is now ready to start building the work and has reached out to us for assistance. With our collective help we hope to raise $2,500 to help cover a portion of the cost of materials for the welded tubing and colorful metal panels and acrylic windows of this piece. The piece has a swing seat feature which was very popular with younger visitors in the version in New York City. With Rye Town Park leadership, Natsuki has selected the recently rehabilitated site near the water at the entrance closest to The Boardwalk, Westchester Children?s Museum and Playland as the location for this piece, where it will create a visual and conceptual bridge between Playland and Rye Town Park. The piece will make a perfect complement to our Rye waterfront - contemporary, colorful and fun. Natsuki Takauji, a Japan native living and working in New York since 2008, is an accomplished sculptor with work in the current 2018 Venice Biennale (Design, Architecture and Sculpture). Her sculptures have been exhibited in the Berkeley College Gallery, Noho M55 Gallery, Van Cortland Park and the Lesley Heller Workspace. Her first large scale public sculpture was installed in Riverside Park for one year, 2014-2015, and was featured in the Wall Street Journal and New York Times. She currently teaches Metal Sculpture classes at the Art Students League of New York.
