Description:
An age specific, 45-minute class containing ballet, tap and jazz/creative movement. The purpose of the class is to introduce young dancers to the three styles of dance and inspire movement and creativity within a positive environment. Dancers will also learn basic steps and terminology in all three styles. For example, all dancers will learn what a "pliƩ" is and how to demonstrate one. The use of fun, age appropriate music engages the young dancers' minds and bodies. The use of props such as hula hoops for the "freeze dance" makes the end of class the most fun! Tap & Ballet shoes and taking both sessions is recommended. In Session B, we will end with a Holiday Performance n' Picnic on Dec. 8th. Instructor: 8*Count Dance.
**No class 11/24, 12/1, & 12/8
**Note last 2 classes are held on Friday 11/30 & 12/7, times will be passed out in class plan for PM**
Biography:My name is Andrea Polyak & I?m so excited to be teaching classes here in my community! I started dancing when I was 2 years old and at the age of 13, started helping in dance classes here & there at the studio I took at. When I was 17 years old, I was asked to be Assistant Teacher in a Baby Comb Class ages 3-5 years old. I learned a lot from the main teacher that year & had so much fun sharing my love of dance. Over the years I danced at BMDA, I competed at state & national levels with Tap, Jazz & Lyrical. We also performed all over the East Valley at community events. My favorite type of dance is Tap, performing & teaching it! Looking over the past 14 years of teaching dance, I really didn?t think this would be my job! Yet, I really don?t like to call it is a job more just making a positive influence in a young person?s life. I started teaching with the Town of Gilbert Park & Recreation in 2000 and you will find that most of the classes that are still running today are the ones that I started. From the Tiny/Mini tumbling, Fun & Fitness & Fairy Ballet! I spent about 4 years with town teaching before I had my boys. After that I stayed home with my boys and I ran a small dance program at the Las Sendas Community in Mesa one day a week. This program has been on going for the past 9 years! I?m married to a supportive husband, Keith and we have a busy family! We moved to Queen Creek in 2004. Beside the love of dance, I?m very active in Girl Scouts. I have daughter who is 12 & dances competitively. I also have two boys who are 8 & 7 and active with football!
