The Counselor-in-Training program is created to provide leadership opportunities and a group training experience that prepares teens to become staff members at Camp Funtastic as well as productive members of the community. These programs include an internship in all aspects of a counselor's job at camp, participation in camper driven service projects, training sessions on child development, behavior management, counseling techniques, best practices, communication, leadership and the rules and regulations of camp and the District. CITs will work closely with returning Camp Funtastic staff to learn best practice techniques for managing campers during the Summer session.
The Camp Funtastic CIT program is by application. Prospective CITs will be required to attend a training session where they will learn policies, procedures and assist in the program planning of Summer Camp Funtastic. At the end of the training session, CITs will participate in interviews and be evaluated on their participation in the training sessions. After the completion of training, Camp Funtastic staff will select CITs for Summer 2016.There will be a $89 per week fee to participate in the program to cover field trip, material, and supply costs.
CITs will be selected to assist Camp Funtastic will be assigned a mentor counselor who they will shadow for the duration of the summer. CITs will participate in all activities at camp including field trips, arts & craft activities, swim days at the Pleasant Valley Aquatic Center and more!
