Description

EMERSON ON SELF- RELIANCE

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2016
FROM 8:30 AM - 1 PM

Come and explore the spiritual and intellectual legacy of America's great philosopher and teacher Ralph Waldo Emerson. We shall study selected passages from his pivotal essay "Self-Reliance." His words are both inspirational and fortifying and always address a love of freedom and a deep abiding need for self-reliance.

This is from the essay:

"It is easy in the world to live after the world's opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude".

All are welcome; no prior study of Emerson is required.
