Training Description
Prevention of trauma and sexual violence begins with understanding trauma. Trauma’s impact echoes throughout individuals, families, neighborhoods, communities and systems. The understanding and ability to develop a common language for identifying and talking about trauma is essential for prevention efforts. Together we will explore frameworks to apply trauma-informed practices that focus on prevention of trauma and sexual violence. As prevention efforts and strategies emerge and develop both internal and external capacities must be built to support ongoing change. Individuals working within agencies, agencies and systems themselves and neighborhoods and communities must all identify tools and resources to address trauma and implement prevention practices. Working with trauma requires taking care of self, utilizing self-care and resiliency within supervisory practices and working with systems and communities to embed those practices within daily interactions. Join us in using a trauma-informed perspective to identify practices and strategies to build stronger prevention efforts.
