Course Description:
Assessing Challenging Behaviors with Functional Behavioral Assessments is Part I of the Promoting Positive Behaviors: Cultivating a School-Wide Climate of Change for Student Success IV Part Series. Throughout this course, participants will develop an in-depth understanding of assessing for challenging behaviors in children using the Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) process. In addition, participants will develop effective strategies for data collection and forming hypothesis statements. Finally, participants will engage in group discussion, interactive chats, and polls.

Course Objectives:
  • Describe challenging behavior.
  • Predict when, where, and with whom the challenging behavior will occur.
  • Identify possible explanations for the child’s challenging behavior.
