Forestry Service Heliport and Smoke Jumpers to Helicopters and Planes. Learn what these things have in common. From airplane design,to new technology helping Fire Fighter's do their job. Learn about the differences in topography and its effects on wind movement, up-drafts and down-drafts effects on planes and fires.

What and Who were the Seminoles? Take a journey back in time to learn just who were the first recorded Native American’s that inhabited Florida. Explore what happened to the different tribes and how the Seminole name came to be. Create some fun art and crafts along with learning interesting facts of Indian life.

Introduce the power of fire, its purpose and understanding of youth practices in their daily lives within their home and community.

Let’s get down and dirty learning all about soil. What is soil? How is it created? How many different types of soil are out there around the world? Enjoy hands on activities with sampling soils from various areas. Discover who might live in that there soil. Develop an understanding difference between rich to poor soil and how it affects plant and animal live.

Fungi Kingdom Explored
Fungi are sometimes overlooked in biology, especially compared to bacteria, plants and animals. This is partially because many fungi are microscopic, and the field of mycology did not really develop until after the invention of the microscope.
Get a close up look and understanding of different types of fungus. Explore the good and bad types of fungus that can be found among plants animals and humans.

DescriptionTheme: Fascinating World of Bugs

Have you ever noticed that some insects, birds, or fish seem to change color as they move? What is happening? What you see is the light hitting the surface and ultraviolet rays bouncing back from different angles. If the animal’s covering (scales, shells, or feathers) reflects light at several different angles, they are often iridescent. Learn what bugs are helpful and harmful.

Firewise Nature Camp presents a fun new nature theme each week that includes a Firewise Community Segment. This weekly camp includes hands on activities, arts & craft projects, hikes and games highlighted by guest speakers and weekly field trips. Weekly fee is $120/child and includes before care (7:30-8:00am) and after care(5:00-6:00pm).
