Description: Nature's Neighbors - Wildlife Symposium Learn how to manage wildlife on the home front from nationally known experts on wildlife at a symposium on Saturday, February 27 from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. This symposium held at the Heritage Center in Downtown Springfield cost $35 per participant and includes refreshments and lunch. Stan Gehrt will be one of the featured speakers, known for his urban coyote research efforts in Chicago and featured on PBS and National Geographic. 8:30am Registration - Coffee & Donuts Provided 9:00am Dr. Stanley Gehrt Coyotes - Uneasy Neighbors Gaining a better understanding of the ecology, behavior, conflict and conservation of the American coyote. 10:45am Marne A. Titchenell Living with Wildlife Learn wildlife management practice and strategies to effectively lessen the damage caused to your property by deer, geese, raccoons, skunks and more. 12:00pm Lunch Provided 1:00pm Pamela Bennett Gophers - Squirrels - Rabbits - OH MY! Learn how to identify these crafty critters and the damage caused in your garden. We'll share ideas and tips on how to manage them in your landscape and still keep your sanity. 2:00pm Dr. Richard Phillips Common Sense Coyote - A Local Research Effort Documenting the presence of coyotesin the urban landscapes: surveys and citizen science.
