Description
The goal of the Water Safety Instructor course is to train instructor candidates to teach the curriculum of the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program, the Basic Water Rescue course, and for eligible individuals, the Safety Training for Swim Coaches course. To participate in the Water Safety Instructor course, individuals must be at least 16 years of age on or before the final scheduled lesson of this course, and must demonstrate the ability to perform the following swimming skills: 1. Swim these strokes consistently: Front Crawl - 25 yards, Back Crawl - 25 yards, Breaststroke - 25 yards, Elementary Backstroke - 25 yards, Sidestroke - 25 yards, and Butterfly - 15 yards; 2. Maintain position on back for one minute in deep water (floating or sculling); and 3. Tread water for one minute. You do not have to be a Lifeguard to teach take or pass this course! Total class time is 25-30 hours though some of the class time will be completed individually online; must have six participants to run this class.
