Description

The New Berlin Recreation Department will be hosting a Cornhole Tournament as part of the City of New Berlin’s 4th of July Family Festival. This tournament will be held on Wednesday, July 3rd beginning at 5pm at Malone Park (on Diamond #3). Register your team of two players before July 3rd; only one player must formally register. All teams must pre-register for this tournament. Games will be played using the official ACO rules. All participants must use the provided bag and boards. Tentative Payouts: 1st Place $300, 2nd Place $150, 3rd Place $75.

  • Schedule & Arrival Time:
    • The tourney is scheduled for Wednesday, July 3rd at 5:00pm in the Outfield of Malone Diamond #3.
    • Please be sure to show up to this location at least 20 minutes prior to 5:00pm; we would suggest shooting for 4:30pm!
  • Tournament Notifications on “Scoreholio”
    • Tournament participants must download the "Scoreholio" on App Store or Google Play. Once downloaded, participants should create a player account. You can search for upcoming events and you should see "New Berlin Rec Cornhole Tournament" in the available tournaments (as long as you see events within their selected mile range).
    • Tournament participants won't be able to follow their team until the Tournament Facilitator registers players prior to the start of the tournament. Teams should arrive at least 20 minutes prior to 5pm to ensure that they are registered and so we can get started on time.
  • Tournament Play & Rules:
    • Double Elimination (must lose two matches to be out)
    • Winner's (Uppers) Bracket - the winner of the match is the first team to win 2 out of a 3 game set.
    • Loser's (Lowers) Bracket - the winner of a single game match continues on and the losing team is out of the tournament.
    • To win a game during a match or single game competition, a team has to have at least 21 points and be ahead of the opposing team by 2 or more points. It is NOT necessary to hit exactly 21 points.
    • There is a 10-minute forfeit rule. This means once a team is advanced in Scoreholio and the notification is sent via the app stating they are assigned to a new court for a match or single game - both teams have 10 minutes to show. If a team doesn't show within 10 minutes, they forfeit the match or the single game. If that was their first loss, they move onto the Lowers bracket. If that was their second loss, they are out of the tournament.
    • We use elimination scoring. Bag in and an opponent bag on the board is 2 points for the first team. Bags that bounce from the ground to the scoring surface are dead bags and must be removed before a new bag can be thrown - this bag is worth zero points.
  • Equipment:
    • Boards, bags, and score stations will be provided by our Tournament Facilitator, Cornhole by Tarmann.
    • All participants MUST use the boards and bags provided
