This course is designed for musicians who are seeking to establish a practical foundation for their endeavors as artist/educators. The course will offer an examination of resources, methods, strategies and approaches applied in music classrooms and studios. Students will explore current teaching methodologies and examine a variety of topics and issues in contemporary in music education including assessment procedures, institutional guidelines and educational standards, and maintaining creative integrity as music educators. Coursework will include a statement defining a personal philosophical and methodological approach to music education. Students will also design an individualized music curriculum by incorporating current methodologies and resources.
