Description

The "Rolling Forward" initiative by the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board (MPRB) seeks to introduce and promote log rolling, a unique sport with deep regional roots, in Minneapolis parks. This program is particularly focused on engaging Black and Somali youth, a demographic that has historically had limited exposure to a variety of recreational water activities, including log rolling. Participating in log rolling can foster a sense of belonging and community among Youth. This activity provides a platform for them to engage with peers from various backgrounds, enhancing social interaction and community cohesion. Participants will learn the fundamentals of Log Rolling. By the end of the course participants should have a basic understanding of how to step onto the log themselves and maintain control while stepping back and forth on the log, both individually and with a partner.
