Venture north to Shofuso, Philadelphia?s nationally ranked Japanese garden. Immerse yourself in the rich Japanese culture with a tour of the house that was built in Japan using traditional techniques and materials before being shipped to America. Enjoy free time afterwards to stroll the peaceful gardens that feature a Japanese maple lined pond with a tiered waterfall and island. We?ll then travel to nearby Bartrams Garden where lunch will be served onsite in the oldest standing barn in Philadelphia County built by John Bartram, Jr. in 1775. Guests will enjoy a guided tour of the historic house and gardens featuring 45 acres of parkland, wildlife habitats, tidal wetlands, and a reclaimed meadow. This garden is known for its collection of species collected, grown, and studied by the Bartram family from 1728?1850, with a focus on native plants of eastern North America. Fee includes charter bus transportation, lunch, and tour costs.
