Block Printing on Fabric

Express your individuality and create your own fabric patterns and prints! Learn the basics of block printing on fabric, relief carving techniques to create custom stamps, how to print using dye pastes and inks, and fabric design fundamentals. Bring along your cotton textiles to customize your T-shirts, denim, tote bags, pillow cases - the possibilities are endless. The first class will include drawing your designs and basic carving techniques to turn your block into a print. In the second class will comprise of printing the blocks onto your cotton textiles, playing with elements of rhythm and design.

Patrizia brings to Wheelhouse a plethora of knowledge and experience in the textile and design field. With a BA in Textile Design from the Institute of Industrial Design of Montevideo, Uruguay and an MS in Textile Design for Prints from Philadelphia University, she offers us both institutional knowledge, and also extensive personal experience in this arena. She has been involved in all things design, including wallcovering, fashion, and lighting. Patrizia loves teaching what she is so passionate about to others. Bring a minimum of 2 yards of 100% cotton fabric any type and whatever other items like garments, tablecloth, napkins etc. that you want to bring to print on.
