Description:
Join us for a Wandering Workday at Hickory Grove. These restoration workdays are hosted by staff at various locations throughout the county. This workday is being co-hosted by Citizens for Conservation (CFC) as part of the Barrington Greenway Initiative (BGI).
BGI's goal is to collaborate across jurisdictional boundaries to create unbroken, linked habitat corridors, increased biodiversity, and strengthened ecosystems all the way from the Poplar Creek area to north of Port Barrington. This will be BGI's first workday in McHenry County.
We'll be cutting invasive brush at the Hickory Grove Highlands. Park near Grove #2, and the work site is located near Grove #1. If there's snow, we'll be able to have a brush pile burn to warm up. Remember to wear layers!
Please contact Jackie Bero at jbero@mccdistrict.org or (815) 219-1549 if you have any questions on specific parking instructions or cancellations due to weather.
All activities are outdoors and off trail. Wear sturdy boots and layers. Dress for the weather and outdoor work. Bring drinking water, safety glasses, work gloves, and a hat.
