Withdrawal Policies

Classes, Ensembles, Prelude, Sing, Play, Learn with MacPhail? and Summer Camps:

Written notice or email notice provided to Student Services within two business days following the first class will be refunded at 100% Written notice or email notice provided to Student Services within two business days following the second class will be refunded at 75%
Summer Camp withdrawals must be received no later than two business days before the start of the camp. If a withdrawal is needed after this time frame, no refund will be provided.

Individual Instruction & Suzuki Instruction

Before the 4th lesson of the semester: Students must provide written or email notice of withdrawal and refund requests to the Student Service to receive a refund for the remaining paid lessons. We will not honor verbal requests for withdrawal.

After the 4th lesson of the semester: Students must provide written (or email) notice of withdrawal and refund requests to the Student Service four weeks in advance, and are responsible for payment of four lessons from the date of the withdrawal notice. The remaining paid lessons will be refunded. We will not honor verbal requests for withdrawal.

Attendance Policy:

Missed Lessons, Classes & Ensembles: Please call or email your instructor in advance of any absence. Prior notification does not exempt students from payment. Students are charged for all the lessons they are registered for, including lessons that are missed due to the student's absence. Consider requesting?an?online lesson?in the event of?mild illness,?inclement?weather,?or?last-minute?conflicts.?In?the event the instructor cancels a lesson, a makeup lesson will be offered at a mutually convenient time.?The make-up lesson may be an online lesson.?
Sing, Play, Learn with MacPhail: There are no refunds for Sing, Play, Learn classes missed due to vacations or illness; however, makeup classes are available for missed classes. Please contact Student Services to schedule the makeup class at 612-321-0100 or stop by the front desk.
Music Therapy: Please see the attendance policy received from the Music Therapy department and follow up with your music therapist or the department manager with any questions.
Religious Holidays: Please provide your instructor with a one week notice for a regularly scheduled lesson that will be missed due to a religious holiday. We will do our best to reschedule this lesson. This policy does not apply to classes, ensembles, and Sing, Play, Learn.

Refunds: All lessons must be completed by the end of the semester. If a refund is required, it must be claimed by the last day of the semester that the lesson was to take place in.

Late Fees: A late registration fee of $25 is charged to continuing students who received a re-registration form and register after the first day of the semester. New students or continuing students who are registering for a new activity are exempt from this late registration fee. The late registration fee is charged one time per semester, per family. For families who are interested, we do offer a payment plan option. There is a $25 fee to set the payment plan up and there is a $25 fee added for any payments received after the payment plan due dates.

Program Cancellation: MacPhail reserves the right to cancel any classes or ensembles that have insufficient enrollment up to 24 hours before the first meeting. If a class or ensemble is canceled, students will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another class or receive a full refund, including any registration or payment plan fees.

Media: MacPhail reserves the right to use photos and videos taken during lessons, classes and events which may be used in brochures, MacPhail website, advertising (print and digital), social media or for media relations purposes. Photographs and videos featuring registered students are considered eligible for publication or public use unless we have received a request for non-use in writing. This notice must be provided to student services prior to the date when the photograph or video appears. We will make every effort to accommodate student requests.
