Description

(Participants will be asked to complete a program questionnaire prior to admission. After completing the online questionnaire a Lifeguard Ready Training Mentor will contact the participant to complete the registration process.)

The Lifeguard Ready Training program is aimed at providing an inclusive education and training program to youth ages 16 and over, focused on the fundamental skills necessary to become a Los Angeles County Pool Lifeguard. The program is intended to train interested students/participants to an acceptable level to participate in the County Pool Lifeguard Training Academy as a Pool Lifeguard Candidate.

This developmental training would be a physically active program. With an emphasis on water skills development, refinement, and conditioning. Participants who pass the development camp would forgo the County of Los Angeles 500-yard swim test and be processed to become a pool lifeguard cadet. This will allow the candidate to have the skills necessary to successfully complete the New Lifeguard Training. Participants that do not pass the LRT training will be given the opportunity to participate in the next available training or be invited back for a traditional new guard swim test.

Program participants are expected to attend all 12 training sessions. Participants will be provided with swimsuits, towels, duffel bags, etc.
