Description

(Ages 12 - 18)

This advanced performance group is for more advanced classical guitarists who want to further develop their musicianship, ensemble technique, sight reading and chamber music skills in a fun and motivating group setting. Ensemble members learn to organize their musical ideas, refine their musical sensitivity, listen more carefully, respond to musical cues with facility, and work with other students in a musical team.

Participants must be taking weekly private lessons and are expected to show a high level of commitment. Participants should have an excellent understanding of rhythm, the ability to use both free and rest stroke with ease and be able to read fluently in first through seventh positions.

Please note: Four years of classical guitar lessons and recommendation of instructor are required. For more information, please contact Risa Carlson, Guitar Department Chair, at (202) 686-8000 x1104 or rcarlson@levinemusic.org.
