Description

"Lakeside Lures" is a fishing class that combines important dockside fishing safety instruction along with training on how to create simple fishing rigs that actually work off the Lakeside Dock.

Students learn how to make floating night crawler harnesses, slip bobbers with gobi rigs, how to snell hooks, how to replace aged monofilament line on old reels, how to make a tight-line rig, and how to make and use a "scrounging rig" to clean up the lake bottom and get free fishing gear at the same time. The course is taught on dry land, under one of the Rhein Center tents. Students go away with a big zip-lock bag full of new fishing rigs, bait casting lures and other items made during the class.

The class is deliberately taught away from the lake, outside under a tent on the Rhein Center lawn and in the middle of the afternoon when the fishing is slow.
