April 5th, May 10th, June 7th 3 Classes
Kendo is a Japanese sport developed from the art of samurai swordsmanship. Students start with footwork, then how to hold, swing and strike opponents with a flexible bamboo sword. Students wear armor and participate in practices, tournaments and rank exams when ready. It is highly technical, instills self-discipline and uses full body movement. Highline Kendo Kai has proudly been a part of King County Parks for almost 50 years and is a member of the Pacific Northwest Kendo Federation. Instructor: Elizabeth Marsten, 6th Degree Blackbelt. National and international tournament experience in competition and coaching. Kids (15yrs and under): 6:30-7:30pm, Adult Beginners and Advanced: 7-9pm
