Biography:
Kalleen Chilcote is an artist, printmaker and educator living in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is a feminist who finds unfading inspiration in the complexity, beauty and danger of the natural world. She is also a voracious reader, an occasional writer, a mother and a former roller derby badass.
Ms. Chilcote received her BFA in studio art from Tulane University and her MFA in studio art from the University of Texas at Austin. She concentrated on printmaking during both degree programs and has also studied internationally at the Slade School of Fine Art in London, England and at the Pont-Aven School of Art in France.
Creatively, Ms. Chilcote's focus shifts between endowing her papier-mâché creatures with mythic proportions, creating allegorical and often humorous prints and rendering dark, seductive waterscapes in charcoal and pastels.
Currently, Ms. Chilcote teaches at the Indianapolis Art Center and at the Mooresville Arts Partnership. She exhibits nationally and internationally and belongs to the 67th Street Printmakers club.
