Biography:
I graduated from Auburn University with a BFA in Graphic Design with a concentration on Illustration. My senior project received from the art department faculty an "A Commended award, which was a big encouragement on entering the communication arts field.
I moved to Atlanta and took a job with a magazine publisher, CCI, and spent four years illustrating and designing for various magazines. The last two of those years I redesigned and art directed two different health foods magazines. After that I worked at Esoteric Audio as Assistant Art Director designing logos, creating packaging and illustrating most every day there. After one year I left and started freelancing as an illustrator. Since Illustrating on my own, I have worked for such clients as Hallmark Cards and Children's Television Workshop, ad agencies such as BBDO South and Larry Smith & Associates, book publishers such as Prentice Hall and Scott Foresman.
I continue to illustrate from my Georgia home with my family while enjoying the shared adventure alongside my wife homeschooling our kids. As our kids have grown older, are being tutored some of the week by other qualified tutors in our homeschool community, and are more independent learners, I am teaching other families' kids art more and more.
Campuses include Summit Academy in Auburn & Jefferson, Artios in Sugar Hill, Lilburn Academic Classes in Tucker, Art'Orium at Flowery Branch, and regularly at Lawrenceville?s and Buford?s Hobby Lobby, and Pinwheel Art School Classes in Lawrenceville, and at Hudgens Center for the Arts in Duluth. I have been a member of Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators and am a member of my local arts association, NGAA. I enjoy being involved with my community and the greatest joy I get out of work is the job of art instructor to young artists, K through 12.
I am owner of Pinwheel Creative Studios, LLC, a family owned communication arts studio and art school it's community arts advocate, Pinwheel School of Art. I am the founder of Teaching Art in Gwinnett, a community art classes program. I am the acting administrator of HOSTA, (Honoring Our Savior Through Art), a Christian artist support ministry for adult artists. I am staff art instructor for Summit Academy in Auburn, and Jefferson. I am an active Plein Air painter having won a couple of awards in the Gwinnett area including Suwanee and Buford in pastel, acrylic, and watercolor landscapes. I paint large landscapes in oil, create graphite portraits, and work in watercolor and pen and ink when illustrating.
