Description
If you have ever wanted to delve into the world of clay, now is the time! This is a beginner’s handbuilding class and we will be exploring the joys of building functional pieces. The class is a series of four handbuilding classes that will take you through various forms of handbuilding including slab, pinch pot, and coil built pottery. The last class will focus on glazing your pieces.
Handbuilding is a very important primer to wheel throwing and more advanced forms of handbuilding. You will learn to construct forms out of raw clay and how to decorate and glaze your pieces. We will teach you how to be successful while having fun in the process! By the end of the class you will be able to move into other areas of clay with confidence.
This class is geared towards beginning students who have not had much experience with clay in the past.
Pottery class tuition includes a $40 fee, which covers the cost of of clay, glazes, and 2500 cubic inches of glaze firing. Tuition also includes one 2.5 hour open studio slot per week.
Additional clay and open studio time can be purchased from the Education Department. Pottery tools are for sale in the gift shop.

Registration will not be pro-rated after classes have begun.
A written notice of at least one week must be given before the start of the first class if you wish to cancel. Registration changes and cancellations will incur an administrative fee of $40.
We reserve the right to cancel a class for lack of participants. Cancellation of classes due to insufficient enrollment will be made one (1) business day before the first class. We reserve the right to substitute an instructor if necessary.
