Paddling season is around the corner and it’s time to start spending your time and energy outdoors exploring Centennial Lake and making new friends. The first meeting covers the skills taught in a Kayak Paddling Basics class and you’ll refine those skills as you explore Centennial Lake on the following weeks! This club can meet the paddling basics requirement for paddling trips. Program is part of the Encore Adventure Series. No experience necessary; all equipment supplied for use during the program. Encore Adventures are your opportunity to dabble in a variety of outdoor skills! Try your hand at paddling a kayak, learn the basics of archery, go fishing around Centennial Lake, get a grip on our indoor rock climbing wall and much more. Earn a certificate and patch for completing at least five Encore Adventure activities within a two-year period.

Detailed info will be emailed about a week prior to the program start. No experience necessary and all equipment provided for use during the program; paddlers may bring their own boat and/or life jacket pending approval by instructor. Minimal swimming ability required – we do not intentionally capsize the boats but kayaks can and do flip over. Life jackets are provided and required during the class.

Participation in this Club can meet the Paddling Basics requirement for future HCRP Float trips. For more information contact Matt Medicus, 410-313-1769 or mmedicus@howardcountymd.gov.
