2013 Summer Enrichment Program
The Summer Enrichment Program is a day camp style program conducted by the
· The day camp runs for 10 weeks from June 3 through August 9, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.
· Registration is required and will be conducted during regular business hours and will continue until community centers reach their maximum capacity. Registration begins April 22, 2013.
· The cost is $30.00 per child per week. Community Centers can receive payments in the form of a cashiers check or money order only. No personal checks are accepted at the community centers.
· Fee exemptions are available to parents or guardians who qualify.
Qualifying exemptions, with appropriate documentation will be exempt from the fees and will be able to register for the Summer Enrichment Program at no charge.

q Unemployed parents or guardians;
q Families or guardians on Family Independence Program (FIP);
q Families or guardians on Food Stamps (FS);
q Families or guardians on Supplemental Security Income (SSI);
q Families or guardians on Medicaid;
q Families or guardians on Federal Housing or Section 8 Assistance;
q Families or guardians on Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) Program; and
q Families or guardians on Aide to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC)
· Student to staff ratio is 1 to 25 with qualified professional recreation staff. All staff will be provided with summer training to enhance service delivery. Summer Enrichment Program operates under ?Texas Standards of Care? as defined by Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services.
· Parents will be required to attend a program orientation as scheduled at each community center.
· Transportation is also the responsibility of the parent.
· Any scheduled field trip costs are not a part of the registration fee.
· Program components include core and theme week activities including crafts, nutrition, fun fitness, track and field, swimming, soccer, junior golf, nature exploration, arts and entertainment, and special events.
· Partnership collaboration plays a large role in program enhancement. Special activities include computer literacy programs, recycling awareness, kayaking, bird watching, fishing and hiking excursions and youth entrepreneur experiences.
· A free federally funded lunch and snack, administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture, is also provided in conjunction with the Summer Enrichment Program.
· The program is coordinated through the Recreation Program Section of the Department.
