Description: The Mechanics' Institute Chess Club is the oldest chess club in the United States, and we are bringing the tradition and fun to our Hillsborough chess programs! Our philosophy revolves around creating a positive team dynamic within the class that is supportive of learning for students of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced. Our students walk away building up not only their chess knowledge and skills in critical and logical thinking, but also learn values such as sportsmanship and learning from mistakes. Our goal is to inspire students in learning and playing chess and supporting their continued development.
