In this CORE musical theatre class, students add to their basic performance skills while continuing to study different styles of music and dance. This class culminates in an informal, in-class presentation of a musical theatre song & dance for family and friends and fulfills a pre-requisite for the Performance Block.
Chelsea has taught the voice classes for children and adults at Civic's School of Theatre Arts for the last two years and co-taught the Musical Theatre Audition Workshop in the Spring of 2016. She received her Bachelor's in Music from Hope College where she was a Vocal Music major. Chelsea has participated in over twenty shows around the Grand Rapids theatre community since 2009. Favorite stage credits with Civic include Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof, Glinda/Auntie Em in The Wizard of Oz, Emily Webb in Our Town, Mrs. Beaver in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and Winifred Banks in Mary Poppins. Other local stage credits include Johanna in Sweeney Todd at Circle Theatre; Clara in The Light in the Piazza at Actors' Theatre (Grand Award nominee); and Alice in Closer with Theatre 616. Chelsea works full time at Civic as the Box Office Manager and Development Assistant. She also teaches private voice out of her home studio, sings with Good Tidings Caroling Company during the holiday season, and performs professionally as a singer, model, and actor.
Biography:Worth Williams Hages is a Broadway musical theatre performer and teaching artist. While living in New York City Worth originated the role of Amber Von Tussle for the Fist National Tour of "Hairspray". While on tour with the show Worth performed at legendary theatres like The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and The 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle where "Hairspray " originated. Worth had the pleasure of working with Tony award winning director Jack O'Brien and choreographer Jerry Mitchell. Worth studied at The Boston Conservatory of Music where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in musical theatre. While living in New York for thirteen years, Worth also served as a teaching artist in New York City teaching the foundation of musical theatre to students ranging in ages three to eighteen. Worth was a teaching artist at TADA Youth Theatre, City Lights Youth Theatre, Wingspan Arts, and served as choreographer at The Brearley School. Worth has also directed productions of "Footloose" and "Hairspray" at The Young Actors Theatre in Florida.
